Altered Environments is a curated printmaking portfolio that responds to the issue of marine bioinvasions. The portfolio will include 20 artists from diverse backgrounds, utilizing a wide range of styles and print techniques. Each artist will receive one full set of prints, housed within a sturdy portfolio. One full set will be donated to the collection at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD and one set will be kept for traveling exhibitions. This project is co-sponsored by the Marine Bioinvasions Lab at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in Edgewater, MD and Pyramid Atlantic in Hyattsville, MD. There is no cost for participation. A limited number of accepted artists may additionally be provided ten hours of studio time at Pyramid Atlantic (housing not provided). Artists who take advantage of this opportunity will need to be or become certified in community print shop practices and procedures.
