Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET) at the Rita Rossi Colwell Center

ICMB XI will be held at the Colwell Center, home to the University System of Maryland's Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET), at the foot of Pier 5 in Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

701 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 USA

+1 410-234-8814

IMET scientists engage in marine and environmental research that drives the creation of new technologies designed to protect and restore coastal systems, and to foster improvements in sustainable resource use and human health. Research, training, and technology transfer work at IMET spans a broad range of topics, including: using aquaculture and genomics to conserve and create marine resources and bioenergy, environmental sensor development, environmental remediation, developmental biology, marine biomedicine, molecular and cellular systems, and sustainable urban ports and ecosystems.

The Rita Rossi Colwell Center is an architecturally striking 250,000 square foot multi-functional facility containing event spaces, offices, and wet labs. Alongside IMET, it houses a collaborative community of private entities working in the fields of human and environmental health and start-up companies in IMET's Harbor Launch Incubator.

Conference Lodging

ICMB XI will not have a designated conference hotel, but the Colwell Center is conveniently located in Baltimore's central convention and tourism district, with dozens of nearby hotels at a range of price points. Check out our Where to Stay page for more information on local lodging options.

Navigating the Conference

Conference Entry
  • The entrance to all conference spaces is along the western side of the Colwell Center building, facing the historic ship U.S. Coast Guard Cutter 37 (Taney). Please do not try to enter through the north door that faces Pratt Street, as this is reserved for use by other building tenants.

  • Please remember to wear your conference badge at all times, so that building security can recognize that you are a registered attendee of the event.
